Kentucky State University was founded in 1886 and is located at Frankfort, Kentucky. It is a public university and is commonly known as Thorobreds. The university has an enrollment of over 2,700 students. The school has maintained its liberal arts roots, but it also offers training in professional fields such as nursing and public administration. The university comprises of three colleges: Arts, Social Sciences and Interdisciplinary Studies; Mathematics, Sciences, Technology and Health; and Professional Studies.
