A publicly-funded institution, the University of Wyoming opened in 1887. The University offers baccalaureate and graduate education, research, and outreach services through seven colleges: Agriculture, Arts and Sciences, Business, Education, Engineering, Health Sciences, and Law. The main campus is located in Laramie and the University also maintains the UW/Casper College Center, nine outreach education centers across Wyoming, and Cooperative Extension Service centers in each of the state's 23 counties and on the Wind River Indian Reservation. The University has 12,875 students currently enrolled in its programs.
