The University of Central Florida, a public university, has its main campus at Orlando and also operates out of 11 regional campuses located throughout Central Florida. It opened its doors to students in October, 1968 and has a current student enrollment of more than 50,000. The university offers 223 degree programs that include popular courses, such as optics, modeling and simulation, engineering and computer science, business administration, education, science, hospitality management and digital media. It awards Baccalaureate, Masters, Specialist, Doctoral and Professional (Medicine) degrees.
