The State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations is located at the north-eastern coast of the American continent. The capital city is Providence. The state is often nicknamed as 'The Ocean State' because at least one tenth of its total area is covered by salt water and no part of the state is at least 30 minutes away from the ocean. The main cities of the state apart from its capital city are Newport, Warwick, Cranston and Central Falls.
