Help: How to use this map
The present state of New Jersey was one of the thirteen original colonies of the United States of America. Quite naturally, there are a great many historical sites and settlements that have been excellently preserved for fruitful exploration by the visitor - be it the Native American ruins at the Heritage Museum, the country's most feted war vessel at the Battleship New Jersey Memorial, the scene of the largest battle on the east coast at Monmouth or the laboratory of Edison.
There are around 60 institutions of higher education in New Jersey, including both public and private colleges. Some of the well-known universities in New Jersey go back a long time, like Princeton University that was started by the Presbyterians in the mid-eighteenth century and the Rutgers University, now Queen's College, by the Dutch Reformed Church.
Overseas students opting to study in the 'Garden State' can also avail of the various scholarships offered by the authority for Higher Education Assistance.
