Since 2002 when the Smith School opened, its $38 million, 103,300 square foot South Wing expansion, Van Munching Hall has had one of the most technologically advanced facilities directed at management education in the world.  The bar was set even higher with the recently opened North Wing addition in spring 2008.

The $21 million North Wing addition of 38,000 square feet to Van Munching Hall increased the total space to approximately 238,000 square feet. The North Wing has two large 80-person classrooms and two 55-person flexible classrooms.  Five conference rooms and a dozen team rooms will facilitate the team work that is such an important part of both the undergraduate and MBA curriculum. A large, elegant executive meeting room that can be partitioned in several ways will be used by students, alumni and recruiters for meetings and events.  The Department of Accounting and Information Assurance and the Department of Decision and Information Technologies also have faculty offices in the new space.
    
All of the major University of Maryland campus facilities, such as the Campus Recreation Center and the Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center, are just a short walk or shuttle ride away from the Smith School.

Clubs and organizations hold events like ‘Asia week’ and ‘Diwali night’, annually which are big draws for students, faculty and staff.
