Fees and admissions

Fees

Full-Time Tuition, Undergraduate Fees (mandatory fees included):

  • The fee for non-resident full time undergraduate students is $9355.00
  • All mandatory fees are included in this.
  • For billing purposes, Undergraduate full-time status is defined as registration for 12 or more credits.

Graduate Student Tuition Fees (mandatory fees not included):

  • The fee for non-resident graduate students is $701 per credit hour
  • For all categories, non-residents are defined as students from the District of Columbia, and all other states and countries.
  • Note that a student who has been admitted to the Graduate School will be charged the Graduate Credit Hour fee for all courses regardless of the level of the course.
  •  Many graduate departments such as the Robert H. Smith School of Business or Public Affairs have special tuition rates. Please click here for further details.

Admissions

The University of Maryland seeks to enroll international students who demonstrate strong academic performance with records suggesting potential for success at Maryland. Undergraduate admission is competitive and is most often offered to applicants whose academic credentials indicate marks of 'very good' to 'excellent'.

Scholarships

International graduate students are eligible to apply for all graduate assistantships and most graduate fellowships (depending on the source of the fellowship funds).  Graduate Assistantships provide graduate students with the opportunity to provide teaching, research, or other work for the university in return for pay and tuition waivers.  Fellowships provide exceptional students with tuition waivers and a living stipend.
