The academic life of the University is organised around 31 schools, which are grouped into five faculties: Arts, Engineering, Business, Law & Social Sciences (including the Business School), Sciences and Medicine & Health Sciences. The University offers undergraduate courses in all the faculties along with a wide range of postgraduate programmes, including taught (MA/MSc) and research (MPhil, PhD) degrees. The tutors and lecturers are widely published and respected within academic circles. In teaching assessments conducted by the Quality Assurance Agency, 39 of the University’s subjects have been awarded 'excellent' ratings of between 22 and 24 out of 24.
