Queen Mary, University of London is one of the largest colleges of the internationally recognized University of London. The Institution takes pride in being one of the UK’s and London’s leading research-focused higher education institutions. Queen Mary delivers a comprehensive range of world class undergraduate and postgraduate programmes together with extensive research opportunities in a wide range of subjects in Humanities, Social Sciences and Laws, Medicine and Dentistry and in Science and Engineering.
Queen Mary currently has 15,000 students about 20 per cent of whom are from overseas. The College offers an enduring and multifarious cosmopolitan environment that is extremely welcoming to its international students.
Queen Mary is one of the UK’s leading research universities. In the government’s last Research Assessment Exercise (RAE 2008), Queen Mary was ranked overall 13th in the UK, according to The Times Higher Education.The Guardian places Queen Mary 11th overall in the UK.
The College has several leading international research units, such as the Centre for Commercial Law Studies and the Interdisciplinary Research Centre in Biomedical Materials. The College also offers English Language and foundation courses, preparing students for undergraduate and postgraduate entry to university.
Queen Mary is the only college in the University of London to have an integrated teaching, research and residential campus in central London. The main Mile End campus is located between the two financial areas of London – ‘The City’ and Docklands. Studying on campus means that the students have all the benefits of a campus community as well as the limitless opportunities of living in London.

History
Queen Mary’s history has its roots in four momentous colleges: Queen Mary College, Westfield College, St Bartholomew’s Hospital Medical College and the London Hospital Medical College.
The Mile End campus, established in 1887 as the People’s Palace, is the home of Queen Mary College. The People’s Palace, admitted to the University of London in 1915, was a benevolent venture to provide education and other social activities to east Londoners.
Westfield College, founded in 1882, was a pioneering college for the higher education of women. The College was granted its Royal Charter in 1932. In 1995, Queen Mary and Westfield merged with two distinguished medical colleges - St Bartholomew's Hospital Medical College (established in 1843) and the London Hospital Medical College (England's first medical school founded in 1785).
At present, Queen Mary is completely articulated in clinical medical teaching and training by pooling relevant strengths, expertise and resources.
Queen Mary is a part of the federal University of London that comprises of 40 academic institutions and 120,000 students. This makes it the largest and most diverse university in the country.
