Bournemouth University offers a wide range of courses and specializations delivered by six different academic schools along with Partner Colleges. The different academic schools are as follows:
Business school
BU’s Business School is internationally well-known as a leading provider of contemporary business education. A powerful academic research culture keeps the School relevant, informs course development and benefits the business community locally, nationally and internationally. By offering a range of generalist and specialist undergraduate and postgraduate courses, with the choice of a placement year in industry, the students can graduate with the necessary theoretical and practical skills. Apart from excellent career prospects, the Business School also provides exceptional educational facilities, academics with industry and research backgrounds, research opportunities along with lectures and course materials that are delivered using the latest technologies.
School of Conservation Sciences
The School of Conservation Sciences encompasses archaeology, geography, environmental, forensic and earth sciences, ecology, biology, heritage conservation and coastal zone management. The School contains three academic areas: archaeology, anthropology and heritage, geographical science and forensic science. The School has an international reputation for delivery of high quality education in a range of disciplines while also pursuing excellence in research. The School offers a wide range of undergraduate and post graduate courses in various disciplinary areas.
School of Design, Engineering & Computing
The School of Design, Engineering & Computing at Bournemouth University offers courses in Design, Creative Technology, Software Systems and Psychology. The School is located at the University's Talbot Campus. The School offers undergraduate and postgraduate courses in various disciplines. Research within the School is enhanced by the expertise of its staff, many of whom are actively sought out for their specialist knowledge by the media and government.
The School of Health & Social Care
The School of Health & Social Care (HSC) has a long standing reputation for providing student-centred, innovative programmes of education that prepare and develop health and social care practitioners. The School offers a wide variety of undergraduate programmes in nursing, midwifery, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, operating department practice, social care, community and youth work. In addition, there are many courses for qualified health and social care professionals who may wish to continue their personal and professional development at undergraduate or postgraduate levels. The School has dynamic researchers working and contributing to new knowledge around a number of topics.
The Media School
The Media School at Bournemouth University is home to the only Centre for Excellence in Media Practice in the UK, offering courses in corporate & marketing communications, journalism & communication, media production and computer animation. Undergraduate and postgraduate teaching at the Media School has been assessed as 'excellent' by the Quality Assurance Agency and its research related to computer animation was recently rated as ‘World Leading’.
School of Services Management
The focus of the School of Services Management is to equip students with the knowledge and professional skills to "create exceptional customer experiences" in their chosen industries of events, food, hospitality, leisure, retail, sport and tourism. The School is recognised internationally as a leading provider of undergraduate and postgraduate management courses in their preferred specialisations.
Partner Colleges
The University works in partnership with colleges in Dorset, Somerset and Wiltshire to provide extended opportunities for study.
