La Trobe International College strives to provide students with state-of-the art facilities, which in turn help them to achieve their academic and professional goals.
Some of the facilities on offer include:
- Specially designed classrooms for communicative language teaching. These classrooms are equipped with video players and overhead projectors
- Two audio laboratories with 40 student positions, designed for communicative activities, computer laboratories with 60 student positions networked and Internet connected
- A hall with multi-media facilities and a piano, for large-group activities (lectures, ceremonies, movies, social events, examinations, etc.)
- An independent learning centre, with space and facilities for more than 100 students. This is a well-equipped self-help resource centre in which students can extend their learning beyond the classroom.
- A teachers' resource room with a comprehensive collection of teaching resources including professional journals, reference material, books, lesson materials, tapes, videos and CD ROMs
- A student lounge and cafeteria
- Students also have access to La Trobe University's wide range of campus facilities, including: a sports centre, library, medical centre, 24 -hour study hall, cinema, clubs and associations.
Services for international students
Student advising:Students advisors and Heads of Department help student with issues related to studying and living in Australia, including: cross-cultural communication, adjusting to a different way of life, motivation, study methods, time management, and study pathways.
First language advisors:Japanese, Korea, Spanish, Arabic, Thai, Taiwanese and Mandarin advisors are available for issues and questions in native languages. Advisors in other languages are also made available on request.
Mentor program:Foundation and Diploma program students meet each week with their teacher to discuss on-going progress, study skills, careers advice, personal and life issues, as well as for faculty/information sessions, and social and sporting activities.
University counselling service:Students have access and can be referred to professional counselling.
Meet and Greet services at Melbourne Airport:The college can arrange for students to be met at Melbourne Airport on arrival and taken to their accommodation. This is available at any time of the day or night. One way transfer fee costs $70.
