Overall experience

My tip for AJC is to make sure you get good teachers, not just the course. For example there is a Mr Adrian there who is brilliant. He is the most intelligent teacher I have met so far and teaches us English (they call it General Paper here) but basically it is just advanced English with critical analysis. When you get here the trick is to try to avoid being in a class with too many trainee or young newly qualified teachers. This college has way too many. Thye may be keen but many are poor. Other teachers that are good, are Mr Yip Kim Wah and my friends tell me also Mr Terrence Toh Chong Ping (Mr).

Selection process and gaining admission

Not too bad but Singapore is strict and very meritocratic so don't think you can bluff your way in. Thye will even take you off a scholarship if you do something wrong like fail to do your work consistently.

Funding and scholarships

Hard to get as you know in this depressed economic times. A good one to try if you run out of funds when you get here is the Lee Foundation or you can think of signing a bond to be a teacher as they are short of good teachers in Singapore.

Your study experience

Mixed. Good facilities but many students are quite selfish and won't share their notes too much. We as Indinas are treated without any discrimination though which is a plus.

Your life experience

College is 25 years old which is considered old in Singapore but facilities are better than back in India and maintainance is done regularly.

Job prospects

Singapore will take in educated Indians as with any educated race and I know many seniors who feel they want to stay on here. The lifestle is good and the standard of living high.

Would you recommend your institution to future students?
