Overall experience

Overall experience was excellent. The people in college were from great backgrounds and the faculty made a lot of effort that allowed everyone to bond. King's is in the heart of London, so that in itself was a great experience. The Strand building & Somerset house are in need of some work (but thats being carried out now) - I was based in the Waterloo Building which is brand new and didnt need any improvements. The Maughan Library is the best college library in London.

Selection process and gaining admission

Entry to college is competitive, I had applied to three colleges Warwick, LSE and Kings - all three sent conditional offers of 65% overall for B.Com (Hons). The process was fairly straight forward - just make sure that the personal statement is strong and all documents are in place. Visa process was fairly simple - always remember the bank statements when going for the visa interview. The travel experience was fine - except for the fact that at Heathrow airport they asked for some additional medical info and X-rays. I didnt have them so I had to wait for 2 hours to get it done before going through immigration.

Funding and scholarships

I did not apply for financial assistance. But if you search hard enough and visit the British Council there are a number of scholarships available.

Your study experience

Lecturers and tutors very helpful, e-mail them incase you have any problems or go see them in their rooms. We had about 3 hours of lectures everyday (Mon-Fri) and about 2 hours everyday in small groups with a tutor. The course was value for money, but a MSc. degree does not add too much to your salary (incase you are looking for a job in the UK). Students going for this degree should have good analytic skills, otherwise they will be at a disadvantage.

Your life experience

I stayed in one of King's College's Halls of residence. But if you decide to study at King's, LSE, Imperial or any other University of London college then staying at International Hall is the best. The rooms are much larger- and you meet many people from different colleges. If you are studying at King's then the waterloo campus is a good place to stay. Just 5 mins from Covent Garden, Strand & LSE. Also much easier to use the Maughan Library. Very well connected- as the Waterloo Station is just across the street. At the Postgraduate level the number of societies are fewer, since the degree is more intensive. But it is possible to get part time work even within college.

Job prospects

In the UK - the job prospects when i graduated were pretty bad as a result of the financial crisis. But in general everyone i know got a great job as soon as they finished their degree. I am in touch with fellow alumni and am starting a full time role this month.
