Great program

MMH

Overall experience

MMH is a great program, which will prepare you for a great launch into the hospitality industry. For students without financial or math background, some additional effort might be required if they intend to pursue finance and real estate tracks in the hospitality industry, which is at an all time boom right now and my track too. The financial courses are fun, especially with the great professors who will teach you. Not to worry :-) Similarly proficiency in Excel, Word, Power point, and a good Statistical package will increase your learning curve and reduce the time it takes assimilate key concepts and complete assignments. This has been a huge challenge with some classmates who did not use such programs before getting back to school as their work did not require them to.

Your study experience

One needs to have focus and seek counseling while selecting the appropriate career track ( ex. Entrepreneurship, F&B, Marketing, Operations, Revenue Management, and Real Estate Finance and Investments ) and courses. This will help align your goals and set yourself for a great career launch. For me and some of my classmates, MMH is more about experiential learning than just a course in college, of which school work is about 60% of the learning. 20% is from meeting and interacting with the industry professionals and the rest 20% if from co-learning among classmates. I admire the effort our school put in to making sure we were a diverse, competitive, and collaborative class. Wish you all a great start.

Your life experience

The available study and networking time would be insufficient to do all activities one wishes to do. Therefore, you need to choose the most important activity to suit your goal. Prioritize is the name of the game. Of course, you have a tough choice of selecting from the many social events to attend to and unlimited weekend activities.

Job prospects

Best resources are Alumni and industry leaders in the field you wish to pursue your career. As they would help share their experiences and the skill sets required to succeed in the area of interest. The career services help and suggest probable areas to pursue too.My final recommendation is to choose what you are passionate about and can do for the next 20 years as fun, not chase a fad or trend.
