I have enrolled for a double degree, both Doctoral Degree and Masters Degree at the Stanford University. I expect to complete my degrees by 2009. This is a great opportunity and very beneficial too as I can complete both the degrees simultaneously.
I have been awarded the Stanford graduate fellowship, 2006 (full scholarship and stipend for three years). I have also been offered a Teaching Assistantship by the university.
My PhD research is titled Seismic risk assessment of infrastructure (lifeline) systems using efficient sampling and data reduction techniques. Prof. Jack Baker was my research advisor, he had a lot of experience in the field and has published extensively. My Doctoral degree is from the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, whereas the masters degree is from the Department of Statistics. It gets pretty tough at times, but I feel its well worth the effort in the long run.
I have worked as a Research engineer at AIR Worldwide, San Francisco during summer 2008, I also took up Internship research during the summer, all this greatly added to my research experience.
