I am currently doing my bachelors at the University of Queensland. Australia is a good place for studies. The university is good and the people are sociable and friendly. I like it here and would advise students to apply for universities in Australia.
Selection process and gaining admission
I had to take up IELTS, I prepared for it myself. Did not attend coaching classes nor did I take the help of educational counselors. I needed a visa, the visa interview was fine. I travelled by Air India and landed at Melbourne. The air lines allowed 3 baggage + cabin. I did not face any issues at the immigration port. Seniors came to receive me at the airport.
The university does offer scholarships, but they are tough to get.
I am very happy with the academic side. My courses are scheduled beautifully and I am happy with the way it is progressing. We have good profs who are very supportive of the international students and are quite helpful. The labs are good, the library is ok.
I stay with my relatives. Social scene is good, Indians enjoy together. There are many associations here and they organise a lot of events. Its good for bachelors.
There is no placement cell at the university. It is easy to get jobs here.
