Academic advice I would say is if you are interested in doing MS, having good scores, you would be happy studying here.
Selection process and gaining admission
As part of admission process exams I took GRE and TOEFL. For Preparation I went to Visu Coaching centre. I went for F1 Visa interview, my visa experience was quick. Getting tickets was easy, I took Air India. Experience was ok. I didnt get any student fare. I flew from India to Chicago, where the University is located. Baggage rules were 1 cabin bag, 2*23kgs luggages allowed. I didnt face any immigration issues. Indian students are very amicable so they picked me up from airport.
As it is a MS program, TA/RA are usually offered, but its hard to get them.
Happy with things here, professors are good, there is always a scope for improvement. Lecture Halls are very good. Library is excellent with good number of books related to my subject.
I am staying in off-campus apartment. There are full sports facilities with a special sports center. No real worries of the place I live, no violence, but always need to b careful. Night life is pleasant. Weather gets hard during winter as usual in any part of US, rest of all its fine with the state. Well the Indian association conducts time to time parties for international students so its fun.
There is placement cell in this University, which looks into job prospects once my course gets over, has moderate opportunity of getting jobs. There is campus placement process in place. Work permit process is a bit easy as the degree obtained has a very good value. There is no alumni society as such I know.
