This is really an amazing course to pursue; apart from being taught by the best faculty you also get a chance to explore two different parts of the world.
Selection process and gaining admission
Similar to any US Univ admission we need to take GRE and TOEFL; In addition to this there will be a personal interview conducted by the Stanford and NTU faculty before sending the final application. The interview is conducted in few selected cities in India. I didn't take any extra coaching classes for GRE & TOEFL. We need a F1 VISA to study in USA and then student pass in Singapore. I didn't face any difficulties in obtaining VISA. The course duration is 1 year and out of which I did a summer quarter at Stanford for 3 months and the rest 9 months in Singapore. The course is fully funded by the Singapore government through scholarships. The scholarship covers tution fees, monthly stipend at both US and Singapore and in addition a return airfare between India and USA. Airports are pretty close to the Universities both in USA and Singapore. In USA I landed in Sanfrancisco airport. I didn't face any immigration issues. Yes the programme representatives came to receive at Sanfrancisco airport.
The course is fully funded by the Singapore government through scholarships. The scholarship covers tuition fees, monthly stipend at both US and Singapore and in addition a return airfare between India and USA. Since it is a fully funded programme there is no need for part time jobs during the course. We had a very nice time during our stay at both univs.
The programme is very rigorous and is only for one year. I am satisfied with the way the programme was structured. The faculty are the best in their respective fields.
I lived in the graduate residences within the campus. All the facilities are very good and upto the mark. People are very friendly and especially the Stanford faculty are really cool. We have Friday beer parties organized by the department at Stanford every Friday evening, where we sit with faculty and chat about random stuff as we sip beer:D.
The SSP programme helps you in securing a job through their tie-ups with local companies and MNCs in the field. Apart from this, universities hold career fairs, which gives a chance for you to explore what is there in store for you. There are active alumni associations in both univs and they hold events for networking and get-togethers every now and then. The Singapore govt invites you to apply for permanent resident ship (similar to green card in USA) as soon as you graduate and secure a Job.
