Academic scenario here is very competitive

Overall experience

The advice I would give is the academic scenario here is very competitive and you must study hard to suceed.

Selection process and gaining admission

I had to write exams, I wrote the SAT and TOEFL. I prepared on my own using books and preparation guides. I did not attend coaching classes. I did use the facilities at the USIEF and which was helpful. I needed a VISA, the interview was very easy it took not more than a minute, all basic questions and about financing the education etc. It was easy to get the tickets to my destination. I travelled by United Airlines, it was okay, student fare was offered. I landed in Washington DC it is very far from the destination. Did not face much problems with the immigration.

Funding and scholarships

Financial assistance not there few assistantships offered and scholarships.

Your study experience

Happy with the program and the professors, some professors good, research driven than teaching you will find a mix of both. Lecture halls are modern. Library collection is the biggest in the United States.

Your life experience

I have stayed both on campus and off campus. On campus better than off campus accommodation, but you should not be very choosy about the food, then it would suit you. Good sports facilities available. Part time job very competitive. Social scene is very good it is very alive as around 50000 students in the college. Weather is similar to that in Delhi. Several international student societies are active. Biggest population of Indians. Cultural events are frequently held.

Job prospects

Placement cells for all departments. Relatively easy placements, but depends largely on the economic condition. There are campus placements. Companies come and hire the people depending on their merits and all students get a chance at getting placed not just the best students. All major companies come for the placements. There is an active alumni network the alumni society is called Texas exes. The alumni society is active and does help.

Would you recommend your institution to future students?
