Overall experience

I am Premkishore from India and I have completed my Ph.D. in Computer Science at the University of Texas at Austin. It was a great learning experience.

Selection process and gaining admission

I had done my bachelors in Electrical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology. Getting an admit to the University of Texas at Austin was very straight forward.

Funding and scholarships

I was awarded a research assistantship by the university. I also had the opportunity to work as a Teaching Assistant in the Dept. of Computer Sciences at the university.

Your study experience

My thesis advisor for the PhD program was Dr. Steve Keckler. He was an excellent guide and I learnt a lot form him. I have had the opportunity to publish papers and referee conference papers, journal articles and workshop papers.

Your life experience

I worked as a Teaching Assistant for a period of time at the university. My duties included conducting discussion sections, holding office hours, grading exams, supervising graders, and grading homework assignments. I also had the opportunity to do my Graduate Research Internship at Western Research Lab (WRL), Compaq and Advanced Micro Devices (AMD), Sunnyvale during this time. These programs were very rewarding.
