This is a three-year course of full-time, intensive study that prepares graduates for the various demands of the profession. At the end of the course students will sing with technical proficiency and perform with a sense of musical style and dramatic interpretation. Study of the vocal and physical aspects of performance will be complemented by a general awareness of professionalism and the practicalities of theatre, its requirements and environment. Students will acquire a thorough understanding of musicianship, the capacity to sing in the major operatic languages, perform movement and dance sequences, and learn to build a character on developed stagecraft skills.

This degree develops strong analytical, quantitative, computing and communication skills with an emphasis on commodity markets and agricultural and natural resource issues. Approximately half of the units of study are taken in the Faculty of Economics and Business. In first year you study agricultural economics, economics, econometrics, and one optional unit in each semester. In later years you continue with sequences in economics and agricultural economics (eg applied international trade, agribusiness management, marketing, agricultural and resource policy, and quantitative methods). In each year of the degree a wide range of optional units of study, including marketing and finance, is available. Research skills which are highly regarded by employers are gained in fourth year through the completion of a research thesis or a set of research exercises. 60 days of professional experience is completed during vacations. Graduates of this degree have exceptional career opportunities with 94% employment rate maintained within 3 months of completion over the past 15 years. Half the graduates are employed in finance (merchant and commercial banking, futures trading, derivatives trading, risk management and accounting), 30% in agribusiness, marketing and commodity trading, 15% in policy making and economic research, 5% in economic journalism and as managers of large corporate farms. They are employed with the premier organisations in the city and country regions. Graduates are qualified to work across all sectors of the economy and half are employed in areas unrelated to agriculture and natural resources. Many are employed overseas in the UK, US and South-East Asia on exceptional starting salaries with opportunities for rapid salary advancement. Students interested in completing either an economics or commerce degree should consider the Bachelor of Agricultural Economics (BAgrEc) as an alternative. BAgrEc graduates have strong quantitative, analytical, computer and communication skills and are recognised in the market place for being able to solve problems on their own. This applied economics degree differentiates you from the thousands of other economics and commerce graduates. The degree has a strong maths base and applicants should be comfortable with and competent in mathematics.

Some specialist areas such as languages require specific prerequisites that may include additional junior units. Students will be required to maintain a 65 per cent average (Credit grade) in order to remain in the course.There are limited places available in this degree for the highest of achievers. Successful applicants are selected based on their ATAR and an interview, similar to the one used for the Graduate Entry University of Sydney Medicine program (USydMP. Successful applicants are also offered a scholarship for the duration of their degree).
