The University of Western Australia was established in 1911 and is a part of the elite G8 institutions. The main campus is located alongside the Swan river in Perth. The other centres are at Albany and Kalgoorlie in Western Australia and a Centre for Rural Health in Geraldton. UWA operates a number of separate research centres like the Centre for Oil & Gas, Centre for Forensic Science and the Crime Research Centre. The university awards PhDs and professional doctorates, masters degrees, graduate diploma courses and graduate certificates, besides undergraduate degrees.
